PHeLINet mid-term review meeting was held in the Congress Centre at Smolenice Castle, in Slovakia on 25-28 March 2009 in the presence of Matthias Haury, reprensentative of the European Commission. It has been a very successful event
An overview of the two first years of the network, main achievements, milestones and perspectives of the project, was presented by Yannick Crémillieux, coordinator of the network on Thursday 26th of March. Each workpackage leader gave a presentation outlining the progress to date on the tasks within that particular workpackage.
Then each recruited Marie Curie fellow gave a short presentation about his/her scientific background/expertise and past activities, responsibilities within PHeLINet network, major results, prospects for the remaining time, and training and transfer of knowledge received in the context of the network.
An evening posters' session on Wednesday 25th March and parallel scientific sessions on Friday 27th March gave the opportunity to all partners, especifically young researchers, to present and discuss their scientific results.
Finally, a business meeting to discuss main important management points ended that very fruitful 3 days event.
The meeting was valso very successful from the social point of view. All the participants were hosted in the magnificent setting of Smolenice Castle which facilitated interactions and informal discussions from breakfast to dinner. As 2 meetings and 3 training schools have already been organized during the 2 first years of the network, all partners were happy to meet again and the exchange between people was straitghtforward and warm. This could particularly be seen during the welcome party where all generations have been dancing together without any hierarchical division.
